It has been a busy morning and we are only half-way through the day. In math, we met as a large group with all the 4th graders. Our learning goal was to review the concept of "ten times as many." We reviewed and discussed the different ways this may be presented, standard form (528), writtten form (five hundred and twenty eight), and unit form using the place value chart ( 5 hundreds twenty tens 8 ones). By the time we completed the exit ticket, it was 'clicking' for the students. YEAH! In social studies, we reviewed the four types of social scientists and identified the types of questions each type of person asks. To better understand the role of a historian, students learned about primary and secondary sources and began creating a list of 10 important events from their life which will be used to create a personal timeline. Whew! That was a lot of hard work.
